Gracie after the dentist

Gracie went to the dentist today they said she was very well behaved and she lost 3 teeth, she's been doing well, she came home and went all the way up to the third floor! She's never done that before, guess she needed some liquid courage! Ha...another video is her with her new catnip blanket, got her all frisky. And one of her "adjusting" her water bowl? Dont know what that was about...anyway, Gracie says hello everyone~ love you

Hi everybody!

Update on Gracie, Queen of Sheba

Hello all,

This is Jen, Gracie’s adoptive mother...she is doing very well, after a touchy start. She was pretty skittish, and can still be sometimes, but she's much more tolerant of me than she used to be! Her main domain is the basement, she has a patio view of the outside world, which she appears to love. I even heard her hissing at the squirrels and birds the other day! I swear she wanted to go out there and get one! I’ve carried up stairs to the living room several times, and she hangs out for a little while then she goes back downstairs to where I think she feels pretty safe. But the last week, I’ve actually found her in the living room on her own! So I thin she’s getting much more relaxed and is checking out how big her new kingdom actually is…Ha!

OMG! Gracie has a new home!

I wanted to let all of Gracie's friends know that it seems like she's finally found her forever home. A week ago Tues, Gracie left her home in my very small bathroom to live with an adopter named Jennifer in a townhouse in Northern Virginia.

Right now Gracie is spending her days in a very nice, finished basement - her very own suite. The basement is walk out level so Gracie can see all the goings on outside (birds, etc). There's a small secure fenced patio with on way for a cat like Gracie to escape so one day, Gracie might even get to spend sometime outside.

Unlike my noise house (two barking large dogs and hissing cats), Gracie's new home is quiet - she is the only furry resident. A nice calm environment for her.

I really, truly doubted that this day would ever arrive for the very sweet but exceedingly shy, senior, diabetic girl. Words can't describe how thrilled I am that someone else saw how special Gracie is and was willing to commit to loving and caring for her. Right now, Jennifer is fostering her but I expect that in a week or two, Jennifer will finalize her adoption.

A huge thank you to everyone at Homeward Trails, especially Lori and Sue and also Leigh and Rebecca.   And a very big thank you to all of the kitty city volunteers who cared for Gracie while she was at Kitty City. And also thank you to all of Gracie's friends who have taken an interest in her story and sent good thoughts and prayers her way.

Amazing Grace

Gracie is thriving. She recently visited the vet for her annual check up and rabies vaccine. According to the Dr., she is doing GREAT! He was so impressed at how great she looks and how well she is doing on insulin. She is still doing really well on a very small dose of insulin just once a day.

As important, everyday she seems to look forward to her pets with more enthusiasm. Gracie has become a first class purrer. She absolutely adores having her head rubbed and thinks a scratch on the side of her face and neck is particularly nice.

Some days she greets me with a hiss but that's just meaningless trash talk because as soon as I bend down to pet her, she is all purrs. I can pick her up and hold her like a baby without a complaint from her and she'll sit on my lap for ever as long as the pets keep coming.

Gracie's winter "vacation" ends

Gracie and I are so thankful to Sue B! Sue opened her home to Gracie and cared for her while I was out of the country for many, many weeks. Gracie kept another cat company and was stoic about her insulin shots. She gave up trying to hide from Sue pretty quickly.

Gracie comes back to my home this weekend which isn't the best accomodation for her for so many reasons.

Fingers still crossed Gracie finds her guardian angel soon!
